Hands-on Summer at PIC

Penn Grad Student with Peanuts

This summer, PIC welcomes local high school and college students in the classroom to provide training and meaningful experiences in the field of early education. At the same time, these young volunteers provide hands-on help to our teachers and support the development of our children.

Through the Urban Nutrition Initiative, four teen interns will be mentored by PIC teachers as they interact with the children by reading books, assisting with art activities and joining in play. We are pleased to welcome them to PIC for a month-long work experience that ends the first week in August

We have four practicum students from the Community College of Philadelphia Early Childhood program helping in our preschool classrooms as they work towards completing their degree requirements during CCP's summer session.

Preschool and summer camp classrooms have welcomed 11 students from Penn's Graduate School of Education who will begin their master's studies in early elementary in the fall. We are happy to have them helping with our young learners from July to the end of August.
