PIC Director Named After School Ambassador
PIC Director of School Age Programs Anjali Gallup-Diaz has been recognized by the Pennsylvania Statewide Afterschool Youth Development Network (PSAYDN) for her dedication to high quality after school programs.
Anjali, along with 15 fellow educators across the Commonwealth, was selected as a 2015 PSAYDN After School Ambassador to advocate for the
importance of quality after school programs like PIC to policymakers and government officials in Harrisburg and Washington.
As a PSAYDN Ambassador, Anjali will work to raise awareness and preserve out-of-school (OST) funding through advocacy at local, state, and federal levels. She will also work to build partnerships with community leaders, media, and elected officials to enhance advocacy efforts.
In her new role, Anjali hopes to learn more about how state and local legislative policies affect the children at PIC and all West Philadelphia families with school age children.
According to Anjali, she looks forward to "helping PIC develop partnerships with neighborhood OST groups in order to strengthen our community voice."
Pennsylvania Statewide Afterschool Youth Development Network is a group of providers, policy makers. advocators and educators working to promote high quality out-of-school programs. The afterschool ambassador program, which is also active in several other states, was established in Pennsylvania in 2012.
