Let's Get this Plant Sale Started!
Posted by PIC Mom and Plant Sale Chair Vicky Olsen (Zoe is a Roadrunner and Lukas is a Rainbow).
For the past five years, my husband Craig and I have been proud to support PIC's Annual Plant Sale. This year I am thrilled to be chairing the event and invite you to get involved by buying and selling plants.
Each year, in addition to offering Plant Sale items to friends and relatives, we bring the plant order list to each of our work offices. We have found that a majority of our co-workers are more than happy to purchase a few plants each. Not only is the plant selection diverse, but many of the items are affordable. Having a handful of co-workers place orders can really add up!
Craig’s office has its own unique community garden where many of his co-workers escape the stress of work for a few minutes to tend to their herbs and veggies during their lunch break. Many of the plants found in the community garden are purchased from the Plant Sale.
We also personally pick up and deliver our co-workers’ orders. This certainly encourages more orders as it saves them the time of having to go to pick up themselves. By incorporating our co-workers, we are able to really boost the number of sales from what we would have through limiting the sale to just our friends and family.
If you haven’t tried fundraising at your workplace, give it a shot. You will probably find that your co-workers are more than willing to purchase a few plants. As an added incentive, you will earn 3 hours of PPP for your first $100 in sales and an additional hour for every $20 over that.
Thanks in advance for doing your part to help PIC to reach its fundraising goals for the tuition assistance program! Let’s get out there and sell some plants!
