Summer Camp & ASC Memo

Re:    PIC 2019 Summer Camp and 2019/20 After School Center

Are you aware that the Philadelphia School District (PSD) has once again made changes to the calendar for the next school year? This year, the last day for PSD students is June 4, 2019. Children in K-12 will begin the 2019-20 school year on September 5 (the day after the Labor Day holiday). This will be one of the longest summers in School District history!
 
These changes directly affect the scheduling of PIC’s Summer Camp and After School Center (ASC). 

PIC SUMMER CAMP SCHEDULE AND DETAILS

• PIC’ Summer Camp will run for 10 weeks, from June 17 - August 23.  
• PIC will not be able to care for campers on August 26, 27 or 28.
• PIC will be CLOSED for annual staff in-service days on August 29 and 30.
• PIC Summer Camp fills up quickly, especially in the younger grades. Thus, we enroll on a first-come basis.
• Priority enrollment is given to current PIC families until Thursday, March 15. 
• Applications received after March 15 will NOT be given priority and will be filled as space allows.
• Please complete and return the 2019 Summer Camp Application ASAP. We have a two-week minimum enrollment for camp, but they do not need to be consecutive weeks.

AFTER SCHOOL CENTER SCHEDULE AND DETAILS

• The first day of the ASC for children entering K - 5 will be September 3--the first day of school year for the PSD.
• Children in the ASC may be enrolled for 3, 4 or 5 days per week.
• The PIC Board has not yet determined rates for the ASC, but you can expect an annual increase in the 3-3.5 percent range over the current rates listed. Final rates will be determined in April and posted on our website.
• PIC ASC fills up quickly, especially in the younger grades. Thus, we enroll on a first-come basis.
• Priority enrollment is given to applications from current PIC families until Thursday, March 15. 
• Applications received after March 15 will NOT be given priority and will be filled as space allows.
• Please complete and return the After School Application. We suggest returning the form ASAP!
