Plant Sale Starts March 21!

Plant Sale Volunteer

On my walk with my dog today I saw the unmistakable first signs of spring - crocuses! While the dog wasn’t too excited, I know it means that the Plant Sale's pre-sale campaign is just a few short weeks away…beginning on March 21st to be exact!

Meet your Plant Sale Committee…

Vicky Olsen (Lukas is a Rainbow and Zoe is a Roadrunner) is this year’s Committee Chair.

Rounding out the committee:
  • Aimee Ando (Sage is a Firefly and Zoe is a Wild Thing)
  • Denise Brice (PIC teacher whose grandaughter attends After School)
  • Emily and Jon Edelson (Evan is a Doodlebug)
  • Dawn Mercurio (Reed is a Sunshine)
  • Jill Shashaty (Anna and Gabriel are in After School, Dahlia is a Peanut, and Raphael is a Bumblebee)
  • Palak Singhee (Jiva is a Moonbeam)
  • Kali Strand (PIC teacher)
  • Erin and Christian Ticehurst (Emily is a Sunshine)
These dedicated volunteers have been busy choosing varieties of annuals, perennials and houseplants for you. NEW THIS YEAR will be pre-made container gardens ready-made for your front porch or back deck. And as usual, a glorious selection of hanging baskets will be available to help dress up your outdoor space.

A Month of Pre-sales
The complete selection of plants will be unveiled on March 21 at the grand opening of PICplantsale.org, the event's online store. Paper order forms will also be available throughout the center. Be sure to get your orders in early and be sure to tell your friends, family, and co-workers about the sale!

Sale Weekend
Then on Friday, April 29 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and Saturday, April 30 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm the doors to St. Andrew’s Chapel (next door to PIC) open for the community to pick up advance plant orders or to purchase from our weekend inventory, which is full of items that weren’t available online. The sale is truly a West Philly event!

Event proceeds go to PIC's Tuition Assistance Fund, so that more families can have access to high-quality early childhood education and after school programming.

Stay tuned to e-news and our Facebook page for gardening tips and to see what other vendors will be taking part in our fundraiser.
