October Message from Deb

Fall Family Festival 2016 at PIC

October is another very busy month at PIC and has several opportunities for us to come together as a community.

Coming up is a center-wide work day on October 14, which is a great opportunity to get in some PPP hours while meeting families and helping with some important PIC projects.  At the end of the month is our annual Fall Family Festival on October 27, a fun-filled gathering of children, staff and families on our Magic Circle nature playground.

Our biggest event will be ArtStart on Thursday, October 19. A committee of PIC parents has been working on this annual fundraiser since the summer, under the leadership of Committee Co-Chairs Angela Curry (whose son Finnbar is in our Afterschool program, Desmond is in our Roadrunners room and baby Oscar will be joining us soon) and Jennifer Healy (whose daughter Karoline is in our Afterschool program.) There is no doubt that all the hard work they have done will result in one blockbuster evening for the PIC community. They have gathered sponsorship support and have solicited amazing silent auction items. This year’s theme of Vote YES for Kids! highlights the work we have done at PIC to advocate for high quality early childhood experiences for all children.

Guests will enjoy appetizers provided by Stephen Starr Restaurants and dinner provided by West Philadelphia’s own Beijing.

There will be time to mix and mingle, enjoy a drink with friends, admire the displayed art work of our children, and bid on one-of-a-kind auction items.

With all that fun, I hope you will join me for this special evening (where we have arranged low cost child care to ease the expense of a night out).  You should have already received your invitation and this year for the first time, tickets for the event can be purchased on-line.

At ArtStart we come together as a community. We enjoy each other and build relationships. We also raise money for our tuition assistance program, which eases the burden of the cost of quality care for families.

High quality is expensive, we all know that. We also know that every child has a right to experience it. We want to be an early childhood program  that takes leadership in supporting families so that more children can experience the quality programs we have at PIC. Be a part of ArtStart and help us make that happen!
