October Message from Deb

ArtStart in the chapel

Join me at ArtStart

October is such a full month at PIC with many chances for us to come together as a community.

Coming up is a center-wide work day, which is a great chance for you to get in some PPP hours while meeting more families. At the end of the month there is the Fall Family Festival, a joyful gathering of children, staff and families on our Magic Circle nature playground.

Our biggest event by far however will be ArtStart on October 20. A committee of PIC parents has been working on this annual fundraiser since the summer, under the leadership of Committee Chair Mary Beth Fedirko whose son Myles is in the Peanuts classroom.

There is no doubt in my mind that all the hard work they have done will result in one blockbuster evening for the PIC community. They have gathered sponsorship support and solicited amazing silent auction items. Along with that the theme of Lights! Camera! Auction! will lend itself to a fun time.

Guests will enjoy a red carpet entrance, a fun photo booth to capture the glamorous night, tasty treats by Stephen Starr Restaurants and West Philadelphia’s own Beijing.

There will be time to mix and mingle, enjoy a drink with friends, admire the masterpieces of our young children, and bid on one-of-a-kind auction items.

At ArtStart this year, we will premiere an original short film about PIC. It has been filmed and produced by PIC dad Dave Stotz who has generously donated his time and creativity.

The film will spotlight the wonderful programs we have here, and provide real examples of what high quality child care looks like. We want viewers to understand how intentional and essential our work is and how every child deserves the opportunity to be at a program like PIC.

With all that fun, I hope you will join me for this special evening (where we have arranged low cost child care to ease the expense of a night out).

At ArtStart we come together as a community. We enjoy each other and build relationships. We also raise money for our tuition assistance program, which eases the burden of the cost of quality care for families.

High quality is expensive, we all know that. We also know that every child has a right to experience it. It is our responsibility as a center and as a community to support families so that more children can experience the quality programs we have at PIC. Be a part of ArtStart and help us make that happen!
