New Drop Off & Pick Up - Infants and Young Toddlers

This September, PIC will welcome, and welcome back many families. With a growing enrollment, the single site drop-off procedure we had designed for the summer will no longer serve us. We have modified our practice so we can continue to strictly enforce a 6 ft. social distance while families are waiting and maintain the required teachers:child ratio in each classroom so that everyone stays safe.

The following is the NEW PROTOCOL that will be in place beginning Wednesday, September 2.

Infants/Young Toddlers and Toddlers

REMEMBER:

  • All family members must wear masks (without valves) when on PIC property and in the buildings.
  • All children over two must wear a mask during drop off.

1. BIGGEST CHANGE:
Limited family entry to the Spruce and Sweet Buildings will be allowed

With safety as our highest priority, families with children in the Infant/Young Toddler Rooms and the Toddler Rooms will be allowed VERY LIMITED ENTRY into the buildings to drop off and pick up your child OUTSIDE of their classrooms.

  • The paths you will take will be well marked with pieces of tape and signs to enforce social distancing and ONE WAY flow of traffic.
  • Families should maintain a distance of 6 feet from one another at the check-in stations as well as in the hallways.
  • NO SIBLINGS are allowed in the building unless they are going to one of the other classrooms in that hallway.

2. New Pre-Screening Questionnaire:
Each morning before heading to PIC, families will be sent a text with a link to PIC's new electronic "Pre-Screening Tool." Parents are asked to complete the questions each morning once for your family. Once you have answered all the questions, the system will return that you have PASSED by seeing a GREEN screen with that day's date OR FAILED by seeing a RED screen. If you see the RED screen, your child(ren) will not be allowed entry to PIC that day. Please keep them home.

When you arrive at PIC each morning, you will be asked to show us your dated GREEN screen, before temperatures will be checked.

We encourage all families to have the same family member bring their child at drop-off and pick-up time if possible, and to let us know if a different family member is picking up the child.  (how?)

3. TWO New Screening Stations:

For Bumblebees, Caterpillars, Wild Things, Rainbows, and Sunshines:

Spruce Rear Door
(red door on the walkway between Penn Alexander School and PIC)

  • Families will enter the PIC campus from the sidewalk located midway between 42nd and 43rd and runs between Locust Street or Spruce Street.
  • Families will show the GREEN screen with that day's date to the administrator stationed outside PIC's Spruce Rear door.
  • The temperature of both the child and the Parent/Caregiver will be taken prior to being granted entry to the building. Anyone with a temperature greater than 100.0 F will not be admitted to the building. Refer to the COVID-19 Family Handbook to learn what you need to do if you are sent home.
