Great Summer of Stories

PIC"s Storytime in Clark Park has had a great season! This year, the program ran from mid-June until the week before Labor Day. 

Families gathered at the turtle sculpture on Thursday evenings promptly at 7:00 pm for read-aloud stories for children ages 7 and under. Many brought blankets and picnics.

Each week, we had a different reader and among them were PIC parents, teachers, and even children who are in our school-age programs.

During each session there was also a host who introduced the reader and brought cookies for everyone to share.

Storytime in Clark Park is sponsored and organized by PIC's Diversity Committee. Readers select their own titles, with an emphasis on representing the diversity that we experience in West Philadelphia and at PIC.

This summer's titles included: Jacob's New Dress, Pretty Little Black Girl, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. It's OK to be Different, A Giraffe and a Half, A Child's Guide to Anarchy and many, many more.

We want to thank all our Diversity Committee members and everyone who took part in this year's Storytime in Clark Park. While we are excited for everyone to get back to school, we are already looking forward to next summer's stories and family time together.
