Diwali and Dancing

PIC mom brings Diwali to the Fireflies

Fireflies mom Bakirathi Mani recently came to the classroom to talk with the children about Diwali, a Hindu festival that is celebrated by diverse regional, religious and linguistic communities across India. This is what she had to say about her experience:

Diwali is often known as the Festival of Light, and in some regions it also marks the start of the new year. We read a couple of great picture books, "Lighting a Lamp: A Diwali Story"and "Lots of Lights," and the Fireflies gave me the best hugs! We had a blast dancing to new and old Bollywood songs, too!

PIC families who need some PPP hours are encouraged to talk to the teachers about ways to participate in the classroom!
