PIC mom Asali Solomon (her son M'kale is a Sunshine) is an Assistant professor of English at Haverford College where she teaches fiction writing.
Her recently published novel Disgruntled was launched on February 3 at the Penn Book Center. Two days later her interview with Terry Gross aired on Fresh Air.
Born and raised in West Philadelphia, Solomon often felt like an outsider. "The lifestyle I was leading was different from what other people were leading," Solomon tells Fresh Air's Terry Gross.
Partly autobiographical, Solomon drew on her childhood experience when she created Kenya, a fourth grader at Henry C. Lea School and the main character of Disgruntled.
We wish Asali great success with this wonderful accomplishment!
