ArtStart 2014 Was Enchanting!

Last Thursday,  event-goers had the opportunity to dine, socialize, view a magnificent display of children’s artwork, and bid on 85 of unique auction items and packages.

The year's event was a great success, raising over $28,000!

The evening included a few new features to help create an evening in an "enchanted garden." In addition to all the nature-inspired artwork created by PIC children, there was a video showing children in PIC's Magic Circle Nature Playground, and a "Wish Garden, " which offered our guests the chance to fulfill the wishes of our classrooms by purchasing paper flowers.

ArtStart is a community-wide event made possible by our staff, families, alumni, and friends who come together each year to support tuition assistance and enhanced programming at PIC.

The evening featured a elaborate buffet dinner generously donated by our friend and neighbor Alex Yuen, owner of Beijing Restaurant

We also had a host of food and beverage sponsors who served up the wonderful appetizers and refreshments that were enjoyed by all our guests. They included Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, Blarney Stone, Green Line Cafe, Hummus, Moore Brothers Wine Company, Pasqually's Pizza, Rx the Farmacy, University City Beverage, and Yards Brewing Company.

We are also grateful from the support we from area businesses and friends with placements in the program book. We would like to especially thank Deirdre Woods Technology for her sponsorship of the Program Book.

In addition to our attendees, there are numerous behind-the-scenes people who make ArtStart possible.

Thank you to our teachers who encouraged children to create the wonderful artwork, took charge of child care, and participated as donors and bidders.

Thank you to all the parents who donated their time and talents for the silent auction, made culinary contributions, and set up and cleaned up the chapel.

We are especially grateful to our Room Parents for their extensive communications and leadership on the creation of the themed classroom baskets, which alone raised $1795, which is $200 more than last year.

Our event committee has been working on ArtStart since July. Please be sure to thank Tyree Carr, Robert Chaney, Clara Flores, Marni Fogelson-Teel, Leila Graham-Willis, Hien Lu, Monava Jones, Meaghan Messner, Dave Stotz, and Karen Wagner for such a wonderful evening.

Artstart is one of just two events dedicated to raising the funds needed for our tuition assistance program. All efforts towards its success are appreciated and it is gratifying to hear our many community partners talk about how they look forward to helping PIC.

Because of your participation, PIC will continue to help families struggling with the cost of child care through its tuition assistance program, and maintain the rich early learning experiences and quality school-age programming that all children deserve.
