School Age Programs This Fall

School Age Program

Due to the impact of COVID-19 on the current school year, PIC school age programming has adjusted. This September we will offer full-day school day support for kindergartners, and 1st and 2nd graders. We will continue to assess our capacity for an afternoon program for 3rd - 4th grade. We will provide updates as we learn more.

Like any program at PIC, children will be guided during the school day by experienced and professional educators who understand the care that children need and who will support social-emotional development, which is even more critical during today’s challenges.

Continuing (all day) PreK

Enroll your Kindergarten-age child in one of our PreK classrooms (the Grasshoppers or the Roadrunners) for the entire 2020-21 school year. These classrooms will be for 4- and 5-year-olds and offer a  developmentally-appropriate curriculum geared to both the PreK and Kindergarten level. This option is for children who are not enrolled in Kindergarten through their school district or an independent school. The cost of the program aligns with Preschool tuition.

School Day Support

This program is designed to support families with kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade children facing this unprecedented 2020-21 school year. This program is targeted for children who are enrolled in a school that is currently providing online-only instruction.

This will be a safe, supervised environment for school-based virtual learning, as well as opportunities for outdoor play and additional play-based activities after the school day ends. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure assignments are completed and submitted. PIC cannot take responsibility for the child's grades or academic progress. Two snacks and lunch will be included.

This program will begin Tuesday, September 8, and run through November 17, 2020, with the possibility of an extension if full day online-only instruction continues. Program hours will be from 8 am-6 pm in our current After School spaces. Kindergarteners will be in the Stucco Building (on the PIC campus) and 1st and 2nd graders will be in the Aviary building at the corner of 43rd and Spruce Streets.

Families have the option to enroll for 2-days, 3-days and 5-days per week.

We are committed to keeping the children, families, and staff in our community safe. Our programs follow current COVID-19 health and safety policies and procedures outlined in PIC's COVID-19 Family Handbook.

Tuition and Affordability

These are the rates for the School Day Virtual Support Program

5 day: $1350 per month
3-day-:  $850 per month
2-day:   $540 per month

While there is an additional Health and Safety fee and an additional Facilities fee charged for the Early Learning Program, these fees have been included in the monthly tuition for the School-day Support Program.

Financial Assistance

In keeping with PIC's values and desire to serve our diverse community there are two financial assistance opportunities. Spaces will be designated for families receiving Child Care Works (CCW) subsidy. CCW is the state-wide system that helps low income families pay for child care when they need to work. To determine eligibility, please visit the PA Department of Human Services Child Care Works web page.

We will also accept applications for tuition assistance from PIC from families who do not qualify for CCW.

Please contact Enrollment Coordinator Grace Piaña at gpiana@parentinfantcenter.org or 215-222-5480 for more information.
