Parent Participation

The Parent Participation has been a part of PIC since its very beginning. Initially parents performed any job that needed to be done to help the young organization afford to operate. Parents not only helped reduce the cost of running the Center, but many made life-long friends working on projects together.

All families who enroll a child at PIC agree to make an investment of time in their child's learning experience and the work that we do. PIC’s uniquely participatory approach involves parents in most phases of the center’s work.

Parents participate in a variety of activities at the Center: gardening, making small or large repairs, serving as a Room Parent, reading to children or teaching about a cultural event, hosting a potluck, serving on the Board or one of its committees, chaperoning a class trip … the possibilities are endless!

Today's Parent Participation Program (PPP) includes a suggested number of volunteer hours for families to give, dependent on family composition and the program a child is enrolled.
