We Are Early Education Professionals!
Last Friday and Saturday, PIC staff attended the annual conference of the Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children, which this year focused on nature-based learning.
Many workshops highlighted best practices in environmental education to help promote active nature exploration and unstructured play in early childhood development. This was great for PIC teachers as we anticipate further construction on the Magic Circle Outdoor Classroom this spring!
At the conference, attendees took "selfies" to show the faces of the early education community and express their support for the PreK for PA Campaign, which is working to ensure that every 3- and 4-year-old in Pennsylvania has access to high-quality pre-k.
They shared their "selfies" on social media using the hashtag #IamPreK to show that it is unacceptable in the state of Pennsylvania that 70% of 3- and 4-year-olds do not have access to high-quality pre-k.
Kids can't vote, so it's up to us to voice our support for early learning. If you haven't already done so, you can join us by signing the Pre-K for PA petition.
