Day of Play 2022

Chalk on the blacktop

Join us at PIC's first in-person community event since the pandemic started. This years Day of Play is on Saturday, May 14 from 10 am - 1 pm. It is a time for PIC  and the greater West Philly community to gather on the Nature Playground for fun arts, nature and music activities, and more.

We need you! Part of what makes it possible to hold this event is volunteer help, between setting up and cleaning up, or being present at an activity station to make sure things go smoothly.

Stop by at 11:30 am to be entertained by West Powelton Steppers and Drum Corps!
Enjoy a free performance of this West Philadelphia institution. Tell your neighbors to come out to see this amazing musical group! This award-winning drum corps marches in local parades, competes in competitions, and in 2017, won Drum Line of the Year for Drum Line Live at the Merriam Theater.

Food! Don't miss Jezabel's Cafe at Day of Play! Jezabel Careaga, Chef and Owner, has operated her cafe at 45th and Walnut since January 2019. Their “mission is to offer an authentic Northwestern Argentine experience….simple yet delicious food.”  A Winner of "Best of Philly" in 2019, Jezabel's Cafe will be selling food throughout the event.

Our Committee
It takes the hard work of volunteer committees made up of families, teachers, and alumni to make a community event happen. This year, Katie Miller (Remy-Caterpillars), Deirdre Aaron (Oscar-Bumblebees), Nicole Pavrette (Gabriel-Doodlebugs), and teachers Erin Mecchi (Rainbows) and Christel Ürményházi (Roadrunners), are planning the Day of Play. If you have any questions about the event, or want to volunteer, don't hesitate to check in with them when you see them.

Sponsorship
PIC thanks the City Block Team for returning as a Corporate Sponsor. This is the 10th year in a row they are supporting the Tuition Assistance Fund at PIC.
