Mariel loves making art, reading and telling stories with children. In their words, "Working with children helps me imagine new futures for our world, and I strive to help children actively create these futures by empowering them to find modes of self-expression, take risks and solve problems.

Mariel is happy to be a part of PIC's vibrant community. Here, they found a group of teachers that support one another in a shared goal of providing the best care for kids.

Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, Mariel now lives in West Philadelphia. When not at PIC, they enjoy hiking, reading, taking care of plants, printmaking and illustration
