Moksha Laxmi

Board candidate

Moksha Laxmi, PhD, is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania’s Scheie Eye Institute, where her research focuses on glaucoma genetics and retinal neurodegeneration. She earned her PhD in ocular pharmacology and pharmacy from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. Her work combines cellular and translational approaches to better understand eye diseases and develop future therapies.

Moksha and her husband, Ujjwal, who is also a postdoctoral researcher, moved from India and now live in Philadelphia with their twin daughters, Ritvi and Ritanya, who attend PIC. As an international family building a home and community in a new country, they have found PIC to be an incredibly warm, welcoming, and supportive environment.

PIC has played an important role in bringing their family together in many meaningful ways. Moksha is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a community that has supported their family so deeply. Outside of the lab, she enjoys cooking, creative arts, and spending time with her family.
