Erin Mecchi
Seeing a child's growth, not only academically, but socially, emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually is endlessly rewarding.
Erin Mecchi comes to PIC with six years of experience in the field of education. She has worked as a classroom teacher, nanny, tutor, as well as a curriculum planner, American Sign Language teacher, and summer camp leader.
Erin is excited to be at PIC. She is interested in the Reggio-Emilia approach that guides learning at PIC. She also appreciates the support teachers are given, the emphasis on diversity, sustainability, outdoor play, and PIC's commitment to the community and to serving families.
Erin loves the process of tapping into what students are curious about, considering how to teach to their innate curiosity, implementation… and then being completely willing to follow students' learning wherever it takes them from that jumping off point.
She states that she is “forever in awe of the questions they pose, and the investigations that arise. Seeing their growth in these moments, not only academically, but socially, emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually is endlessly rewarding.”
Erin grew up in Allentown, PA and currently lives is Philadelphia. When not at PIC, Erin enjoys roller skating, rock climbing, scrap journaling, listening to lots of music, cooking vegan food, and doing mutual aid work.
